Even before I became Editor-in-Chief, I recognized the power of social media to connect with a younger, high school audience. As I grew in the ODYSSEY, I expanded not just the content we posted, but fundamentally changed the way in which our social media operates. In four years on staff, I've posted more than 300 times, not counting posts created by others using my templates.

We didn’t do many political posts until I came on staff, but I’ve worked to localize national issues and report on local issues, too.

Event coverage posts should do three things – capture attention, capture the spirit of the event, and create visual intrigue.

In my experience, Instagram reels can be used for just about anything. For me, they’re usually a way to capture attention more viscerally.

Breaking news is the core of social media – when people have a burning question, they go to the platform for answers. My breaking news attempts to answer those questions.
